Is high data availability crucial for your business? When it comes to anti-theft tracking systems, alarms, electronic payment terminals, sleep apnea monitoring devices, and many other cases, ensuring a consistently available data communication service is crucial. Providing a mobile 4G/5G connectivity service with very high availability requires redundant infrastructure, well-interconnected systems, and immediate, seamless switchover processes.
Data exchanges between a SIM card (on the left) and your enterprise network (behind a site-to-site VPN on the right) occur as follows:
How does Transatel’s redundant structure offer high data availability?
What if everything collapses? Julien Nguyen Ba, Data Product Manager, at Transatel, explains:
Scenario 1: IPSec Tunnel Loss
If a BGP tunnel is lost, the switchover process is automatic.
Scenario 2: Firewall Failure
Transatel’s firewalls operate in active/passive mode. If a firewall fails, data traffic is redirected to another firewall, which takes over seamlessly.
Scenario 3: Core Network Failure
In the case of the Core Network failure, both cores operate in active/passive mode. Practically, if one “fails,” the other takes over seamlessly.
Scenario 4: Loss of the Mobile Network Edge
If an edge of the mobile network (PGW/UPF) is lost, traffic is automatically rerouted to another active instance.
Transatel ensures this globally, with regional data centers around the world.
Scenario 5: Mobile Network Unavailability
If a local mobile operator experiences a breakdown or its network becomes locally unavailable, connected devices continue their signaling exchanges. If your cellular connectivity provider offers a multi-operator service, when your devices lose connection to the mobile network, they automatically search for an alternative network and switch to the available mobile network emitting the strongest radio signal.
